Doreena Lawrence is an addict of gambling, a former girlfriend of ‘Game and Thrones’ actor George R.R. Martin said in a new interview.
“She loves to gamble.
She likes to bet on everything, and she wants to win big.
She’s addicted to it,” said Lawrence, who was in New York City on Thursday to attend a convention for the World Game of Thrones Fan Club.
Lawrence, 32, is the latest celebrity to come under scrutiny for her gambling habits, with Vanity Fair, People and the New York Times all reporting she gambled on television shows including “American Idol,” “Survivor” and “The Voice.”
The New York Post reported in April that Lawrence was diagnosed with gambling addiction and is taking medication for it.
The actress also had to deal with accusations from her ex-boyfriend, actor George RR Martin, that Lawrence had an affair with him in the late 1990s.
Lawison said she and Martin were “close,” but said she did not know about the affair until a few years later.
“He was not in the habit of being around me or any of my friends,” Lawrence told Vanity Fair.
“I had never met him before, and it just seemed like a big leap to me.”
Lawrence’s ex-girlfriend told Vanity the two had an “intimate friendship” but were not married at the time.
She also said Lawrence had been “in a bad way” and would often tell her about her “possible demise.”
“It was the only thing I knew of that could save my life, so I kept a very low profile and kept it a secret from anyone,” she said.
Lawson, who is of Jamaican heritage, is a regular attendee at the Fan Club convention, which runs from May 8 to May 10 at the Hotel Marriot in New Jersey.
The event was hosted by the Fan-Club of New York and the Fan Clubs of Los Angeles and Seattle.
“I’m going to continue to do it, but I’m also going to try and keep my relationship with my ex-partner and my friends in a better place,” she told Vanity.
“This is a part of who I am, so just keep it going.
If it’s going to hurt me, so be it.”
