Online gambling websites are set to open in Saskatchewan in the next few months.
The Saskatchewan Gaming Authority announced Wednesday that online gambling sites will be the first in the province to open their doors to people who have been banned from the online gambling industry.
The move comes after the province said in January that it was closing the doors to online gambling.
Online gambling is currently banned in Saskatchewan and the Atlantic provinces.
Online betting is the industry’s biggest and most lucrative source of revenue.
The province said online gambling was an area where it wanted to improve and that it wanted more people involved in the process.
In 2016, online gambling companies lost $5.9 million to Saskatchewan gambling users.
